At Dadowin Foundation, our name represents “cooperation.” This week, that spirit was on full display as we gathered with the community in Awurad Woreda to celebrate a life-changing milestone: the official inauguration of our latest clean water project.
From Vision to Celebration
The inauguration ceremony was more than just a formal event; it was a celebration of a promise kept. For too long, families in this region faced the daily hardship of trekking long distances to fetch water from unprotected sources. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, that burden was officially lifted.
As the first flow of clean, safe water reached the community, the atmosphere was filled with the joy and gratitude of hundreds of residents. This project stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we work hand-in-hand with the local community to build resilience.

The Impact of the Project
With this infrastructure now fully operational, the transformation in the community is immediate:
- Health & Safety: Families now have direct access to potable water, drastically reducing the risk of waterborne illnesses.
- Empowering Women and Children: By bringing water points closer to home, we have gifted hours back to mothers and children—time that can now be spent on education and livelihood activities.
- Community Ownership: True to our mission of sustainability, we have established and trained a local water committee to manage and maintain the system, ensuring it serves the community for generations to come.
Rooted in “Dado”
This achievement was made possible through the spirit of Dado—the cooperation between our dedicated team, our generous donors, and the resilient people of the Kaffa Zone. While Dadowin Foundation provided the technical and financial resources, the community provided the heart and the local partnership necessary to make this vision a reality.
The Journey Continues
While we celebrate this incredible victory for public health and dignity, our work is just beginning. Whether it is improving maternal healthcare facilities or building our first kindergarten, we remain committed to uplifting our communities.
